Did another pinup for Uraeus's Morien: Monster Hunter project, which meant I got to play with some more gorgeous lines from Shun. I could just keep colouring this guy's work forever! And yes, I know the blue rimlight doesn't exactly make a whole load of sense, but a colourist's job is to make the art look as good as they can, realism be damned!  ;p

This is a piece I did last week, and one I'm really happy with. As a colorist, once in a while you're given lines to work on, and you immediately just know they're gonna be fun to colour - this was one of those times. I never had to pause to figure out what I was doing (or work out what any parts were, which happens all too often) or retrace my steps - I just piled in and got it done, and it was fun the whole way. I've been feeling a bit down about my work recently, so this was a nice wee boost.

See, I'm not dead!

Yeah, I really need to sort my shit out and start being a bit more active hearabouts again. I'm not gonna make any promises this time tho - every time I do I end up being absent for even longer, so we'll just see how things go. In the meantime, I've uploaded a bunch of stuff that I've done over the past year or so but not shown. Still got a few more things to post, but I need to make sure they're okay to show. I'm also waiting for a new project to kick off. Should be going any day now, and this is something a bit different. I'm sure I'll be able to show show of it soon enough tho.

COLORIST WANTED FOR AN INDIE COMIC TO DEBUT AT NYCC

Hello and Aloha,

We have a first issue in development and need a good colorist. We will be debuting our book at the New York ComicCon in October. THIS IS A PAID GIG, and that will be negotiated with you if you come on board.

The concept, entitled TIP OF THE SPEAR, is basically a merging of the concepts of Dr. Strange and James Bond 007, and it has the promise of becoming something recurring and popular. We found our artist on Digital Webbing, and his art is very strong. Pencils, inks and lettering are near completion.

Please be prepared to do a sample page of sequentials in color for us so that we can test your compatability with the art style. Contact me at my e-mail address, lightningrod70@yahoo.com, and tell me your interest in the project, your page rate range, and sample links to your work, and we will send you samples of what the book looks like so far. It is important that you have a clear understanding of color theory and how to color a story sequentially. Mahalo (thanks) for reading. Good luck!

Hi Derek! My name is Jessica, thought I'd add you (just finished up the lettering on Post-America which I understand you worked on as well). Always good for comic artist to network.  Post-America: issue 1# page 1 by JessHavok
