I've been reading a bit of China Miéville again, which has kinda inspired me to do some sketching again. Which is great, cuz I've been really neglecting my drawing lately.
Anyway, this is an attempt to figure out what the Khepri race look like. I haven't read PSS in ages tho, so I'm kinda missing the best detail notes, but this is fairly close to how I *think* I picture them. I think.
It's the drawing itself I'm interested in here - the colours were just quickly slapped together in photoshop to make it look pretty, so don't gripe about the category, okthx!
[EDIT] = fixed coupla wee bits I missed before, and uploaded a slightly bigger version.
I dunno what it is about this pic, but it's really speaking to me. I think a lot of it is to do with the colouring, which is f'in brilliant, regardless of how 'slapped together' it might be. The irridescance of the beetleshell/head is stunning. That and I think I just really love the idea of a humanoid with a whole bug for a head.
Aye, the khepri are a a pretty cool race (even if I kinda got it a bit wrong, as it happens). And the colouring thing's a doddle, once you get a couple of photoshop tricks under your belt, but many thanks for your kind praise of both that and the rest of the image.

Excellent! I love how you´ve managed to make it look like the scarab-head is actually part of the body, and not just "put there", like in so many other drawings of this strange race. +fav
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

And Icke warned us about a lot of things ... just most of them didn't make much sense (except the lizards, of course).
